This is my first time doing this so I am just trying to get this all figured out. I am doing college application stuff right now. I need peoples opinions and thoughts about Utah State, the Univ. of Utah, and BYU Idaho. I know some of you know more about these schools than I do so anything that you guys can tell me that will help me make my decision about where to attend will help.
Thanks

Do you know what you want to study? If not then I'd go by location. Rexburg is the smallest of the towns, Logan is small, but would have everything you'd need and feels more like a college town (sort of like Corvallis or what Provo used to feel like). UofU is in the city and has the most students. Lots of people don't actually live on campus. You'd be closer to family. UofU is a better school, but if you just want to do your general ed. then don't worry about that too much. I'd say UofU if you want to be in a city and Utah State a smaller town.

I would agree with Matt on this. Obviously you should go to BYU-Hawaii but if you want to go cold weather go to the U unless you want to be in a small town and then go to Utah State.

I cannot in good conscience recommend the UofU to anyone, solely due to my hatred of their football team. And isn't that what really matters when selecting a college?

Hey Patrick,
Well since I'm a BYUI alumni I would definitely recommend that you go there to start off. I loved it when it was Ricks and I know it's even bigger now (not that it's saying much), but I really enjoyed it and felt like it was a good transition from High School to college (I transferred to BYU provo after 2 years). The only good thing I would say about being in Utah is that it's close to so much family. Good luck with your applications! Let me know if you have any questions.

I would choose between BYU-I and UofU. They're both good schools, but very different atmospheres. Like Matt said, if you know what you want to study, that makes a difference. If not, focus on the place you want to be.

I too enjoyed my time at Ricks. I agree with Kris that it was a good transition from high school. positives = smaller class sizes, more personalized attention. negatives = cold as dork, middle of nowhere, cold as dork!

Another thing to consider is whether you want to end up at BYU Provo. Are you still interested in linguistics? I suspect BYU has a pretty good program, and that transferring from BYUI is easier than from UofU or Utah State. Seth enjoyed his missionary prep activities at BYU, which I suspect they have at BYUI.

Finally, why am I going onto a blog to communicate these idea, when you live about 300 yards away, and if I opened my front door and yelled real loud you could hear me?
